Proxmox VE

OPEN-SOURCE VIRTUALIZATION

Clustering, high availability and backup on an open-source platform — with no per-core licence and no renewal surprise.

Proxmox Virtual Environment runs virtual machines and containers on the same host, clusters them, fails them over, and backs them up — from one web interface, on hardware you already own. The software is open source. A support subscription is optional, priced per socket, and costs a fraction of what the commercial alternatives now ask.

Over the last two years Proxmox has gone from a lab favourite to a serious production option for small and mid-sized organisations, largely because virtualization licensing changed underneath everybody. We build it properly — and we are equally willing to tell you when staying where you are is the better call.

WHAT WE DO

WHERE IT PAYS OFF

The renewal quote tripled

The most common reason people call us about Proxmox. We model both paths over three years — including our migration time — so the comparison is real rather than a headline.

Dev, test and lab

Snapshots, clones and templates make throwaway environments cheap, even for organisations that keep production on VCF.

Branch and edge sites

A two- or three-node cluster in a small office running the handful of local workloads, backed up centrally, without a datacentre-scale licence per location.

Budget-constrained but serious

Charities, clinics and trades businesses that need real high availability and real backups, and cannot justify enterprise subscription pricing to get them.

Straight talk

Proxmox is not a drop-in replacement for every VMware feature. There is no exact equivalent of DRS, the third-party ecosystem is smaller, and support is a forum-and-subscription model rather than a global vendor account team. If you depend on a specific integration — a backup product, a storage array plug-in, an application that is only certified on vSphere — that has to be checked before anything moves, and sometimes the honest answer is “not yet”. We check first and tell you either way.

WHY PACKED APPS

We work across both worlds. That means the Proxmox recommendation comes from people who also run VMware Cloud Foundation and Horizon, and who therefore have no reason to oversell either one. Independent since 2001, no vendor quota, straight answers on the phone.

And whichever hypervisor you land on, it still needs a properly segmented network underneath it. We design the whole thing together.
